Wild Gardening
An ensemble event series that brings together performance, live art and film in a unique historic cinema space. Queer film curator Elisabetta Antonucci and myself are currently producing this seasonal cycle of four shows: Winter, Spring, Summer and, yes, Autumn. Each reflects a take on the spirit of the season and foregrounds queer artists and performers, particularly trans and gender nonconforming artists. Elisabetta is interested in films that reflect queer-ecological issues and I am building a narrative to weave between our featured artist’s work.
Clara Ludski and the Rio Cinema - Clara began what is now the much loved Rio cinema in Dalston from the back of her auctioneer’s shop. Originally known as Kingsland Palace of Animated Pictures, the venue has grown into a community cinema featuring a mix of film and live shows. Learn more…

The Winter Edition

Alongside her extended family of performers and artists, Clara “Granny” Ludski presents an eclectic seasonal show intended as a balm for these dark months. We carefully curate a night of works intended to reflect the sombre mood of Winter. Death, failure, loss are balanced by a heavy leaning on hope to help our audience find some solace.

The SPRING Edition
Our Spring show is a joyous celebration of the madness of procreation. As everything in the world wakes up and begins its, often violent, clamour to find a mate, we take an opportunity to remind ourselves that it’s all a bit of fun, and that, as queers, we can take part, or not take part, in any manner we choose.
